HERE COMES JOEY PILGRIM!

By | Uncategorized | No Comments

There’s a lot to like about Joey Pilgrim. The man is a multi-talented wonder with a pastor’s heart. He’s sports savvy – cheering for Connor McDavid and which ever team Connor plays on. He’s a musician and an artist and has effectively served alongside Jeremy Gifford as an intern in our Youth and Young Adult ministry. We’re excited to welcome Joey, a recent grad of Vanguard College, to his full-time role as a pastor to Young Adults, Youth and IT/Computer/Media Support. He’s already got a supportive crew of young adults and youth who look forward to seeing what God will do in and through them. Take a moment and get to know Joey. I’m proud to say that I’m a…

A SUNDAY IN THE LIFE OF A PASTOR

By | Uncategorized | 4 Comments

A Sunday in the life of a pastor…January 24, 2016. Awake at 5:03am – no alarm – just time to be up. Praying at our kitchen table for what the day could hold. Read the YouVersion’s Bible plan – “Digging Deeper Daily.” A see-you-later kiss with Jocelyn before heading out the door on a surprisingly mild January morning. Pulling into an already filling parking lot ninety-five minutes before service time. Handshakes, smiles and hugs with staff and volunteers. Good-natured ribbing on my return from a two-week holiday. High-fives with pre-schoolers in the foyer. Pictures with a family of Patriot football fans decked out in the colors, hours before the AFC Championship game kick-off. Prayer with our ministry team before taking…

By | Uncategorized | 2 Comments

Trevor and Cherise and their son Parker are part of our North Pointe family. Trevor will be ordained (becoming a “REV”) on Sunday April 17th at 11:00am. (Leave a note for him below.) Trevor Caverly joined the pastoral staff at North Pointe on 01/01/16 as our “Connections Pastor.” Trevor was an intern at North Pointe four years ago, working with youth. He is highly respected as a pastor in Alberta and BC. He returned to North Pointe with his wife, Cherice and son, Parker where Trevor is helping move us into our next chapter of ministry. There are many reasons we are excited to be at North Pointe. We are excited because we have felt this is God ordained, that…

THEY CALL ME PASTOR

By | Popular | 35 Comments

Being a pastor is not something to which I aspired. It certainly wasn’t a childhood dream. By nurture, I’m a people person. By nature, I’m a loner. (My teenage ambition was to be a hermit. Really) I’m like a turtle on a fence post. When you see a turtle on a fence post you know it didn’t get there on its own – someone put it there. My fence post is a platform of genuine love for the people God has entrusted to my care. CONNECTIONS Like most pastors, the most common connections with people happen… on a Sunday in the foyer of our ministry campus, preaching/teaching, praying, supporting volunteers, meeting for a plethora of purposes, participating in community outreaches,…

What Can You Accomplish in a Minute?

By | Uncategorized | No Comments

Minutes are to us as miracles are to God. Think about it…minutes are what define our lives. We get 1440 of them every day. We know minutes like fish know water. They are so second nature to us that we are unaware of their passage. Miracles are what define God. Miracles are second nature to Him. If a conception/birth is a miracle then there are over 250 of them every minute on our planet. That’s well over a quarter million every week. 95% of our entire universe is held together by an unknown “dark energy.” That’s a miracle everyday for us. The ‘chance’ coincidence of so many trillion possibilities that had to be exactly right for a universe and life…
