REWARD THE GIVERS NOT THE HATERS

If you share freely there will always be more. This radical proposition runs contrary to human nature and dogs with a bone.

Writers know how to share.

Writers by nature and function are dogged by the call to listen to life and then freely empty their souls of the things they’ve heard.

Think of your favorite writer. I wager that they’re you’re favorite because they excel at sharing.

The Writers Group at North Pointe  is learning the value of sharing. We help each other become better writers and better people. Read how you can get involved here…“Writers Connect”

Writing And Life

Anne Lamott  is laugh-out-loud funny and alternately cranky and kind throughout her book, Bird by Bird: Some Instructions On Writing And Life. The book is the framework from her workshops for writers. She says, “Good writing is about telling the truth. We need to understand who we are.”

Lamott is one of the best mentors an aspiring writer could have (even if her language is a bit salty at times). She writes about how to observe life, faith, anxiety, self-doubt, single-parenting, rejection and becoming a writer.

Even if you’re not a writer her book is a “must-have” for your library and better still for your spirit.anne-lamott-bird-by-bird

Listening To Your Life

Jeff Goins, writer and entrepreneur offers this piece of insight about self-doubt: “Your past is preparing you for what is to come. You can use everything as an apprenticeship for what is coming next.

Listen to your life.”

Jeff has a ton of free, good stuff about life and writing on his site, Goins, Writer.

What’s Next?

You like writing, but you’re not sure that qualifies you as a writer. You think you’re a writer but you’re afraid to tell anyone. Its like a dirty little secret. Its finally saying, “Hi. My name is Bob and I’m a writer” just like an addict who’s been in denial for far too long.

You’re not alone.

I’m beyond the mid-point of my life but I’m not even at the end of the beginning of my experience as a writer.

I’ve picked up about a paragraph of insights that are helpful so far. Some people think that’s enough to encourage others in their writing.

They allowed me to share these recent posts about my life and writing at Inscribe Writers…
